Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing humanity today. Rising global temperatures, extreme weather events, sea-level rise, and other impacts of climate change threaten ecosystems, communities, economies, and livelihoods worldwide. Addressing climate change is crucial for protecting the environment, safeguarding human health and well-being, promoting economic stability, addressing social justice and equity, preserving cultural heritage, and limiting long-term climate impacts. It requires urgent, coordinated, and concerted action at all levels (local, national, and international), from individual lifestyle changes to global cooperation and policy implementation.

The 2nd ICGEE 2024 is organized by the Department of Geography, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM), Indonesia. This conference aims to accommodate and discuss the research findings for mitigating the impacts of climate change and implementing adaptation strategies that promote resilience and sustainability in the face of ongoing environmental changes. This approach encourages innovative thinking and collaborative efforts across various sectors to develop and implement effective solutions that can withstand the challenges of a changing climate. This conference underscores the need for proactive and comprehensive action to address climate change while highlighting the importance of sustainability in shaping our response to a rapidly changing world.
